Sitara in Konstanz

Good Authentic Indian food but I don't know why restaurant has this Kamasutra theme going on for the ambiance.

They are one of the authentic Indian restaurant in the beautiful lake town Konstanz. Mango lassi and Biryani, are truly to try once. Great ambience with welcoming service, adds up to your dining experience. Surely, recommended !

Have never had such a friendly waiter / chef who made one out of two different desserts (for the price of one) because I couldn't decide. Top 5 stars!

Good day. Personally, for me, one of the weaker Indian restaurants I've been to, and the prices are one of the highest. Very few vegetables in the dishes. This is my wife's and mine's opinion. Nice service, but no panache. I think there was tea from the cheapest market, because it had little in common with India. Maybe someday I'll try another dish, but not soon. greetings

The food is phenomenal, the service unfortunately needs improvement. Really, if you want to eat good Indian food and want to sit outside in a nice atmosphere, this is the place for you. The Nan with the three different sauces is particularly recommended. The main courses a dream. But: bring your time! The food is fresh and takes time, and unfortunately our waitresses were quite slow and often forgot something.

It tastes really delicious here! If you are looking for authentic Indian cuisine, this is the place for you. Vegetarian dishes also taste great. The restaurant is always very busy. It is advisable to make a reservation.

The best Indian restaurant I've ever been to. Because of the demo in Constance, the restaurant was packed. Several people have been waiting in front of the entrance and yet they have made every effort to ensure that everyone gets a place as soon as possible. Although it was very busy, the staff was relaxed and friendly to everyone. The food was there very quickly and absolutely excellent. The dishes were freshly prepared and left nothing to be desired - absolutely perfect. The staff came in between and asked whether everything was ok. I can only recommend this restaurant and will definitely visit it again !! Thanks for this great meal !!

Great Indian food in the heart of Konstanz city. Great flavors and spice something to crave all the time. In addition great Punjabi hospitality which is hard to find. A must go place if you Hungary and crave for magic. We tried butter paneer, chicken curry, daal fry and butter roti...all perfect and off course with an unbeatable kingfisher beer...last but not the least a mango kulfi for my son..

First of all: the food and drinks were simply terrific. The staff is genuinely keen to ensure that every guest has a pleasant stay and therefore goes beyond the mandatory framework. You can literally feel the gratitude for honoring their location. We really enjoyed the resulting atmosphere. Again any time. :)

We stayed at the Sitara today and all I can say is ... Excellent! So, if you're ever in Konstanz, then you definitely have to plan a visit to this restaurant. We had a starter platter for 2 (unfortunately no picture). Unfortunately, I don't know enough about Indian, but I highly recommend it. The waitress explained everything perfectly and also gave tips. The guys were really accommodating. The main course can be seen in the picture. Very tasty 😋

We were at Sitara on Friday evening and made a reservation the day before. When the 5th of us arrived we entered a full restaurant and were greeted somewhat perplexed, apparently there was no more table for 5 people and the staff had rescheduled (2 guests were asked if they could move to another table, which I did personally found a cheek for the guests who were already in the restaurant) We then got the table right next to the entrance to the toilet and at the bar, so that we could almost feel all the warmth from the kitchen during the entire stay. Two tables away there was probably a fan that indicated 29 degrees, it felt like more than 30 degrees at our table. (Even 29 degrees would be much too warm, as authentic as India it was definitely climatically seen) Our waiter was friendly, handed us the menus and then we ordered drinks. The drinks came quite quickly and tasted good so far. Starters and main courses also came one after the other. We had various curries, both chicken tikka, as well as with spinach and shrimp, butter chicken, fried chickpea dough rings and nan bread. The nan bread was delicious, as was my spinach and prawn dish. The Chicken-Tikka-Masala was rather mediocre, as all the spices hardly came out and the whistle was simply missing. The butter chicken, on the other hand, was delicious. I have received various feedback on the food from my friends, both positive and negative. During the whole stay the waiter did not come to the table and no one asked if we needed more drinks, although some of us ran out of drinks. In the end, the owner came to the table and invited us for a mango liqueur and asked us to rate the restaurant in any case, I'm doing that right now. What I did not understand, why he had taken off the mask when talking to us, which I found personally uncomfortable. Everyone paid cash or with a card and then we quickly left the "sauna". But now we come to the school grades of Sitara: Ambience: 5 Service: 3 - Taste: 2 - Price-performance: 4 Overall impression: 3 - 4 (for me it tends to be sufficient) Conclusion: This rating was the perception during our stay, surely some of you personally have had better experiences, but if you have such a negative experience, you don't feel like going back a second time. Personally, I was there many years ago, but also sat outside and didn't think it was bad, but this experience on Friday was exactly how it shouldn't be.

Although there was a issue with our online table reservation and there not being a free table for us , the staff went out of there way to set up an extra table. The service was excellent, and the food was second to none will be definitely be back when we are next in Constanz

I found the restaurant quite chaotic and congested. No physical distancing, occupancy and seating rules implemented. 3.5 stars for food and service. A star deducted due to the above reasons.

Great food. Super flavored. Nice service. But not too hot if you like it that way :) !. But to be recommended without reservation. Always back in Constance.

The food was delicious, we all had a curry combo with rice. The ambience was also great, the restaurant is really comfortably furnished. The great service was particularly outstanding. This restaurateur knows what his job is, he really tried to look after his guests. The restaurant is really worth a visit👍🏻

Great selection of different dishes, with and without meat. Very attentive service and delicious food. It was regularly asked whether we would like to order something, the gentlemen at the next table ordered more and quickly got the items they wanted. All in all, it was a successful evening with very tasty food. We can highly recommend it.

On vacation 2019 we were looking for an Indian restaurant and spent a wonderful evening in Mayura. The Mayura has now unfortunately closed, but the same owner continues to run his first restaurant, the Sitara. The Sitara convinced us just as much as the Mayura before. The food is incredibly delicious, the owner is extremely welcoming. We will be back in the next vacation!

Excellent quality food. Anup Singh and his team do a great job. Please reserve as it seemed very busy. Behel puri was a surprise as it’s not a common starter in Indian joints in Germany. Bhuna Gosht (Lamm) was excellent plus Dal tarka. Highly recommended

We stopped by on a short trip through Constance. A seat could be allocated quickly and in a friendly manner, the ambience is very nice and the food was wonderful. There are good descriptions of the ingredients and the desired degree of spiciness on the menu. You can eat well here.

Amazing food and amazing service. We went to Sitara during a short trip to lake constance and enjoyed typical,authentic and excellent north indian cuisine. An absolute must visit for friends of the indian cuisine!

I love this restaurant. The food tastes excellent and the service is always very kind and welcoming. You can even tell them, when the food is too spicy for you and they will bring you a new one (never asked for it, but you could). So I can only recommend this place :) 10/10

Tasty, worth trying

‘One of the best’ Indian cuisine restaurants in Konstanz (or probably ‘the best’ 😉). Definitely try their samosa chaat - it reminded me of street food from India with a unique twist of chutneys. Friendly staff with good vibes.

Genuinely this has to be one of the best Indian meals I've ever had, but also is a must go while in Konstanz. The people are kind and friendly, and the food is exceptional. As tourists in Germany, the people and service can take a bit of getting used to (I'm putting this delicately). The people serving you food in Sitara are kind, friendly and truly care about their food. Ask for recommendation, and you won't be disappoints. This place was a welcome change on our trip. When we return to Konstanz we will be back at this restaurant the very first night.

Hands down the best Indian in Konstanz, and I’ve tried them all. Excellent authentic food, nicely decorated, lovely people, not overpriced, and probably the most central to top it off. Did I mention amazing food?

The food was super tasty here, and we were given great recommendations. Everyone was very kind and welcoming. We enjoyed eating there after a long day of sight seeing.

Went here for lunch yesterday. Had bhel puri, which was good, and the malai kofta, which is the house specialty. The malai kofta was stupidly good -- maybe the best I've ever had. Now I'm dying to know their secret, and also to have it again! Service very attentive and friendly. Will return to try the biryani.

It's been a while since I had Indian this good, and better yet as this was a random find. This restaurant is small and nicely decorated with wooden boiserie... and kamasutra statues all around (which would turn more than one eye a little in a prudish country a little south from here, but the locals didn't seem to mind). We stopped by at lunch, and had a biryani and a curry main, the name of which I forgot. They were absolutely delicions. One little note I have is that I asked both mild for my wife, and I think they also went easy on the spices. All in all, however, this restaurant is definitely work recurrent visits.

Everything about this restaurant is good. Food is amazing and tastes very authentic. I have had Indian cuisine all over Germany, but the food here was the closest in taste as back home. The hosts are very friendly. They are passionate, friendly and jolly. We found them so on a Saturday crowded evening. One criticism: the food service was on the slower side, but this is expected as the curries we ordered need to be cooked for a long time.

One of the best authentic indian food places i tried in germany. The food was really delicious along with the mango lassi. The service and the staff is extremely friendly. A must visit. Just 4 stars because it took a while for the food to come, but it was totally worth the wait

Super delicious Indian food! I ordered spicy, which I can usually handle. The waiter asked me how it was, and I said it was just a tad too spicy. He brought me a free mango lassi to balance it out! The waiters had seemed overworked, but made time anyway to quickly check on us. After we waited a while for the bill, they brought us some nice mango liquor, also on the house, and had a nice little chat. 5-star service, 5-star food.

Wonderful food, wonderful service. Menu is all colour-coded for allergens. Gluten free is not a problem :) Just a lovely evening w h spectacular food and drinks! Thank you!
